Welder III / Fabricator III - Colorado Springs, CO

Springs Fabrication is currently looking for expert Welder/Fabricators for our Colorado Springs location.

Must meet the following requirements:
  • Capable of 6G certification in GMAW/FCAW and/or GTAW processes. SAW is a plus
  • Capable of reading complex drawings, including weld symbols
  • 3 or more years of code welding experience
  • Pipe welding experience up to 20” piping and/or large structural weldments required
  • Experience demonstrating X-Ray quality welds and capable of fitting up complex
  • weldments with consideration for tolerance, shrinkage, and heat induced warpage
  • Robotic welding experience a plus
  • Experience with various metals, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and nickel alloys

Assembly/Electrical Technician - Colorado Springs, CO

Springs Fabrication is seeking a Assembly Technician/Electrician for our growing assembly department at our Colorado Springs location. This technician will perform simple to complex mechanical and electrical assembly.

    Design and improve manufacturing techniques through specification and implementation of new machinery and processes and maintenance of equipment currently in use.
      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
      • Assemble projects per established plans.
      • Performs medium to complex heavy assembly tasks under the guidance of Assembly Team Lead or Production Manager.
      • Confer with Production and Project Management to solve manufacturing problems, improve processes and feasbility of manufacturing products
      • Understand fully Springs Fabrication policy statement, commitment to 5S and safety
      • Plans and performs jobs of installing a variety of electrical equipment such as control panels, switchboards, junction boxes, switches, etc.
      • Connects and disconnects electric powered machines, repairs motors, replaces fuses and sets of circuit breakers on high and low tension circuits.
      • Diagnoses electrical trouble, uses hand and power tools, works from wiring diagram.
      • Planning may involve determination of method and sequence of operation and selection of materials to be used.
      • Works independently and may provide direction to an assistant or less experienced tech member.
      • Experience Requirements
        • At least 2 years of Electrical experience - home building/installation type of experience(running conduit, splices and termination of conductors) is ideal
        • High level of mechanical and electrical knowledge
        • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
        • Must know how to use tools

          • Perform and document quality inspection activities

          Manufacturing Engineer - Westminster, CO

          The Manufacturing Engineer will support processing and forming operations in a project based, fabrication environment. This role will serve as a key link between the manufacturing floor and engineering department; requiring creativity and resourcefulness due to the custom nature of the business.

          Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
          • Provide guidance to customers and design engineers to establish manufacturable and cost effective designs based on cutting, forming, and other processing knowledge.
          • Convert engineering designs (in both design-build and build to print scenarios) to appropriate flat patterns and data files for cutting and forming.
          • Own forming processes and drive technology, tooling, and processing improvements to eliminate waste and support tighter tolerance fabrication.
          • Deliver clear manufacturing direction for production staff through 3D model based drawings, work instructions and SOP’s to support efficient routing and production of product.
          • Interface with processing suppliers to effectively transfer information required to execute subcontracted work.
          • Participate in engineering design reviews to help establish the most cost effective designs that meet customer requirements.
          • Stay informed on new manufacturing technologies. Investigate and recommend new processing technologies that improve efficiency and quality.
          • Support ongoing effort to streamline project initiation and execution by establishing standard processes and systems to create and distribute manufacturing data for sheet metal operations.
          • Provide design engineering support as required by work load and project types.
          • Support Lean initiatives and creating a culture of continuous improvement.

          • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
          • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering from a four-year college or university
          • 5 years in a Lean fabrication environment with hands-on experience with both light and heavy gauge sheet metal parts (up to 5/8” plate). Experience should include cutting/shearing, press brake forming, and welding. Machining experience a plus.
          • Additional class work in management type courses and problem-solving techniques is preferred.
          • SKILLS and ABILITIES :
          • Posses the ability to generate, read and interpret fabrication drawings, process and instrumentation diagrams and schematics.
          • In-depth knowledge of fundamental mechanical engineering concepts and how to apply to fabrication and manufacturing processes. Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal regulations preferred.
          • Able to create flat patterns using parallel/radial line development as well as triangulation development (cones/transitions).
          • Possess good working knowledge of the effects of welding and brazing carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
          • Has thorough knowledge of the metal fabrication processes and associated equipment, including machining, cutting, shearing, press brake forming, and welding.
          • One must posses strong computer knowledge and be familiar with Microsoft Office, ERP systems (such as SYSPRO) and CAD/modeling software such as AutoCad, ProEngineer, Solid Works (preferred).

            Springs Fabrication is seeking TWO full-time Sandblasters to add to our 1st and 2nd shift teams. The sandblaster will grind and chip work-pieces to groove, bevel, round, or straighten edges or remove excess stock from metal as specified by drawings, job orders, or guidelines or to remove defects, such as shrink cracks and holes by performing the following duties.

            ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
            • Inserts selected grinding wheel or cutting chisel into portable grinder or power hammer.
            • Positions and manually guides tool along specified guidelines on edge or surface of work-piece.
            • Inspects work.
            • Grinds portable parts on pedestal grinder.
            • Removes sharp edges or burrs.
            • Chips or grinds out pits or cracks.
            • Grinds, chips, or brushes off excess weld, splatter, and rust to improve appearance of work-piece.

            Advanced Technology Group is searching for an experienced Estimator to study customer requirements relating to the commercial and technical aspects of all RFP’s. This qualified individual will be responsible for estimating all labor, material, quality and shipping costs pertaining to an RFP/RFQ that ATG receives and will respond accordingly with a formal proposal that meets technical, commercial, and profitability requirements.

            ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
            • Read and interpret technical specifications and customer RFP and Scope of Work (SOW) requirements.
            • Utilize Microsoft Office software for estimating such as Excel and/or Word.
            • Clearly and accurately interpret descriptions of processes and intentions in in order to build an accurate and competitive estimate.
            • Read and interpret sketches and blueprints including weld symbols, GD&T and drawing material specifications.
            • Experience with welding, machining and complex assembly operations.
            • Can build a sequence of processes needed to fabricate systems.
            • Communication with customers and suppliers both internal and external to our company.
            • Work with ATG material and component suppliers to negotiate and obtain an accurate materials cost estimate.
            • Work with Manufacturing, Engineering and Sr. Management personnel to obtain labor estimates.
            • Assist in developing partnerships with key customers and suppliers.
            • Represent Advanced Technology Group in a professional, courteous manner.
            • Explain and justify estimates during group reviews.
            • Document and categorize risks appropriately as they come up during the estimation process.
            • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
              • Bachelor`s degree (B. A.) or equivalent preferred; plus a minimum of five (5) years related experience and/or training in these markets; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
              • Experience in building estimates for complex fabrication for Nuclear applications, for DoE directly or Tier 1 suppliers is preferred.
              • Understanding of custom manufacturing is required.

              • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering though candidates with equivalent professional experience may be considered.
              • At least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
              • Working knowledge of NQA-1 Quality System, ASME pressure vessel and piping codes is preferred.
              • Experience in a Lean environment (and associated formal training) is highly desirable.
              CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
              • Professional Engineering license preferred.
